Good try Mick, but I'm sure it's just a vapour trail from an aircraft. Mind you they could have white rainbows in Shevy.

It must have been arranged by the Parish Council… one Shevvyite is gazing in wonder at this strange phenomenon! It’s never happened anywhere else. What ‘message’ can it possibly contain other than ‘rejoicing’ that one of it’s natives is not leaving after all ….oooer!

Good optical illusion of a vapor trail

If this had happened in the skies over St Pats Church in Scholes, it would be described as a miracle.

Is your new house at one end of the ' rainbow ' Mick. Not seen you out and about yet !!

I will swear I once saw a white rainbow over Polly's Pond in Abram many years ago very early one very cold morning, but I don't have a phone that takes photos so all I have is the memory. And when I was at school, (now that IS a long time ago!), I was once going home for my dinner, (I actually used to go home to Ince for my dinner on the bus from Hindley Grammar!), I was on the side seat of the bus and saw three rainbows in a row , (not over the top of each other but next to each other in a line), over Ince Moss. People have told me since that I imagined it as even a DOUBLE rainbow is one over the top of the other, but I remember it vividly. But again I have no proof.

The only miracle at St Pat’s is that it’s still standing after the threat of closure. Mainly due to the parishioner’s fighting against that decision…..
Sure a little bit of Heaven fell out the sky one day and nestled in the shadow of that church not far away. May it stand another century.

It was actually an Exocet missile buried on the Roburite site, it was hit by a gardeners spade and launched before doing a U turn crashing and exploding, early indications are that it has vastly improved a large area of Shevington.

It could be a layer of heat induced noxious fumes rising up from the Motorway after those two hot days we had.

Comment by: Veronica on 27th July 2022 at 21:08

Could it be a smoke signal from the tin shelter or is it just another damp squib?

Comment by: Cyril on 27th July 2022 at 22:12

Could be Veronica, or maybe the Aga backfired with Ozzy having used a tad too much turps to light the nutty slack.

At least he’ll never have a gas or lecky bill Cyril.

Cyril, nutty slack tickled me.I have only heard that said once yrs ago when the Coleman was due, and my aunt said to my mother, "why does he keep leaving us nutty slack, instead of proper cole"
