Devils Tunnel
Another long wet dirty tunnel.
btill photo michael used to love walking down there with bentley.
It must be a headless devil dog.that split second
I thought it would be somewere like Ince which is run down especially with a dog on the horizon inside.
One of the sons of Ince-in-Makerfield has just died - Bill Ashurst of Wigan RLF fame and stints at other outfits e.g. Wakefield Trinity.
Seems appropriate an Ince photo should come up today.
RIP.
Aww, poor Nell, bless her, what is she doing in the devil's tunnel, it looks awful. We're is this?
That is a rather spooky photo and looks as if Nell has sensed something that we humans can't see.....I truly believe animals can do that. It would certainly make a good cover for a book of ghost stories! There was another "devil's tunnel" in Ince besides this one....it was down by where Gullick's Works used to be, in the viaducts area of Ince. I imagine there are "devil's tunnels" and "murder bridges" in various parts of Wigan where children's imaginations have turned the ordinary into the mysterious and the stories have been handed down. Good photo!
One filthy and nasty tunnel doesn’t represent Ince. Whoever owns this place is responsible for it. The dog doesn’t look happy to be there either.
I just hope that isn't glass that Nell is stood amongst.
You are right Veronica, what a narrow-minded comment relating to the tunnel ! It doesn't represent Ince at all,and poor dog! Yes I remember the one behind where Hitchen's is now, only been through that one.We used to frighten ourselves to bits daring to go through.
It would make a good poster for Keep Britain Tidy.
Is there no volunteers groups in Ince that keep the area tidy
Sounds to me Elizabeth as if a certain person is ‘ghosting’! (Using various names)
We have a litter picking community group who keep our area nice and clean.
Gary when did Bill die and has a date been set for the funeral.
The dog is saying, "watch your back".
Dave - he died yesterday. No details as yet.
Yes Veronica,I thought that too !!
Cheers Gary i was shocked when you said he had died.I went to school with him played rugby and football at school with him great all round sportsman.
