Kirkless Woods
Photo: John Harrison (Canon 5D Mark 4)
I’ve walked in this area on quite a number of occasions.
It’s an extremely pleasant place to be.
There must be deer around, although I have yet to see any.
But speaking for myself, the best part is the fact that I have yet to come across another person there.
You could commit murder, camp out in the trees, and I doubt you would be discovered inside six months.
What a lovely, peaceful scene. I love the cloud formation.
Beautiful photo, this is a lovely woodland, tucked away, eventually leading to the back of Aspull Rugby ground.
Nice photo John.
Talking of sky and clouds, did anyone see the rainbow at 9-40 pm last night? I've never seen one so late at night, i took pics, but can't send them to WW.
Lovely photo, I love this place near the Wutchie. Lovely blue sky. As the song goes, What a wonderful world.
It does look a lonely place, quite mysterious ….I like the cotton wool clouds they look as if they are ‘elbowing’ each other out!
I saw that lovely colourful sky Roy - it was almost as if it was an omen …. I am a bit superstitious though… especially with it being a day fit for a Queen!
Roy, as you obviously have access to the internet, simply email your photo to
brianelsey@wiganworld.com
I think I’ve got that right.
If I haven’t, and Ron reads this, I’m sure he’ll put you right.
Roy, Send them to me. ron@wiganworld.co.uk
I used to walk over this area before the trees were planted. Over near the canal close to where the old Albion Iron Works was, there was the remains of what I think had been a tip for the rubbish from the Works.
The land had been ploughed over many times before the trees were planted and articles from the tip were brought to the surface in the process.
I still have some broken clay pipes and old bottles that I picked up on my walks over there.
Walter(North Yorkshire) do you remember we once tried to see how far we could get up the Wutchie on David Marsden’s tractor from this same field? (This was when the Wutchie was bare of trees). We didn’t get very far up did we?
I have watched these trees grow up from being the little twigs that they started out as.
It’s now a glorious place to visit, especially in the Springtime and I have many photos that I have taken over the years.
Great photo John, you have captured it very well.
Lovely photo. Yes, always very quiet, spotless and very well maintained, with a 2 metre pathway cut through the lush wildflower meadow for the walkers.
I love this type of picture . The path looks about as idyllic as they come . Really nice .
I too saw the brilliant sky that Roy speaks of . I've sent in a photo .
Poet, let's hope we get to see the photo you've sent in.Everyone loves a rainbow, especially on the weekend of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Like Veronica I'm a bit superstitious.
