Commercial Inn mural

Commercial Inn mural
I was chatting to one of the workmen who told me a bit about it. The pub is being converted to houses. The mural was painted by artist and teacher Robert Tedaldi. It took him just five days. He painted freehand copying from old photos of Wigan.

A beautiful painting but I wonder about it ‘weathering’ . Also distracting to the motorist. There’s one in Westhoughton on a gable end. I suppose in a way no different to the billboards of old.

I have forgotten where the Commercial Inn was. Can you let us know please. Brilliant painting and photo.

That is fantastic, and it took him five days.
I wonder if he would be free to put some paint on our wallpaper.

That is fantastic! Well done! This is our heritage. There is one on a gable-end in Leigh of a First World War Soldier. We pass it every week after shopping in Leigh. The artist included in the painting,, (as well as the soldier), the lady who made him cups of tea every day and even the little dog who watched the proceedings through the window of a nearby house! Just google "first world war mural leigh lancs" to view it.

Its a pity he didn't put on a couple of CRT lock volunteers manning the top lock.

A great photo of a superb artistic mural, like the way he has colourised the images from the black & white photos. But, what is the point of the rear rainwater spout that juts out and runs down in front of the two windows?

Aubrey, it's at the top of Cale Lane before the bridge leading onto Withington Lane.

Love this, it's a shame we don't have more, it would brighten everyone's day, I'm sure with the state Wigan is in at the moment.
