A carpet of blue. Reading a column about bluebells and English bluebells the heads grow mainly on one side of the stem and the imported ones(Spanish) grow on both sides of the stem. The imported ones are very invasive and can take over an area and are very hard to keep in cheque

Love this photo! The bonny Bluebells and their delicious scent. There seems to be a lot more this year too. I have some in the garden which will need pulling up or they do take over. There’s nothing nicer than walking through woods full of English Bluebells more delicate than the Spanish ones.

Bet Lynch of flowers ,

Too much mascara on your curling lashes ,

You may not climb the Chelsea trellis

Yet you have made the sky fall into the woods .

What a lovely surprise to see the bluebells on p-a-d this morning....cheered me up! What a beautiful shade of blue they are. Thankyou, David.

I love the two headed Spanish variety. let them spread I say, they look so much better having a bright blue bells in our woods than just plain old dead brown leaves.

To all of you who live in Standish, is there still a huge carpet of bluebells behind Ashfield House as you go down to the railway line?

Who rings the bells that tell them to bloom ,
Roll out the carpet , to grace any room,
Capture the sunlight through guardians of trees,
Bell ringer insect swing at their ease,
Ancient wood footsteps ,the previous ones here,
The chimes may seem silent ,
but to some they ring clear..

Well it looks like they are growing very well after Wigan council cut back all those invasive rhododendrons.
Well done Wigan council.

That's really nice. It would look good on a big canvas.
