Thats a nice bright image Joanne, and a different angle.
Its amazing what a bit of TLC from volunteers can do for a functional concrete area.

Good photo Joanne,thanks.

Surprising what a few blooms can do to all that grey concrete space .

Lovely Spring photograph Joanne, thank you. Lots of colour and detail to look at. A welcoming little station. Where would we be without the good people who volunteer to give their time and effort for the benefit of everyone.

Ince volunteers are a bit behind times, the in thing now is growing edible plants.
Just think how handy it would be for the locals if they could get off the train after a hard days work and pluck a little something for tea.

What a huge difference from when I used it as a child. Gone the dark, dank covering over the bridge and who would ever have dreamed FLOWERS on the platform. Well done volunteers.
Nice piccy Joanne.

Why is the driver wriggling his big toe through the window ?

The walkway from Ince Green Lane to the steps used to be covered when I was a little girl. I have such happy memories of waiting for the steam-train to Southport with my parents. There was a little booking-office where my Dad bought our tickets, and a little cosy waiting-room with leather seats, and a coal-fire that lay unlit during the Summer months. Well done to the volunteers for adding such lovely, colourful flowers.

That's a nice photo. It's good to see local people getting involved.

Dave: Because he’s only got a foot to go to the end of the platform.

Well done friends of Ince station you've done a grand job there, it's looking very bright and colourful and a world away from those drab platforms of Gathurst, Appley Bridge and Orrell stations.

I beg your pardon Cyril, I know for a fact Gathurst and Appley Bridge stations have had lovely flower displays for more that 10 years now.

Irene: “a little cosy waiting-room with leather seats, and a coal-fire” That sounds lovely! The station has a smart glass and metal shelter now and electronic signage with updating information. There’s also artwork by children from Ince CE Primary School on display and the volunteers have added local notices and historical information.

There’s to be a brand spanking new footbridge soon. I’m looking forward to seeing it though I’ll miss the current one’s criss cross and rusty character.

Send in a photo of them Joan, though according to James Hanson those stations have long stopped growing flowers, and their troughs are now overflowing with fruit, vegetables and herbs for passengers to freely pick.

Joanne, it WAS lovely! It wasn't "posh" and the leather seating had seen better days but I remember it so well. I never saw the fire lit but it was always "set out" ready for a match to be put to it as Autumn and Winter approached. The fireplace was tiny. I attended Ince CE Primary myself and it's lovely to think of the current children's artwork being on display.

Lovely photo Joanne, I was only looking at those flowers, the other day, through the train window. Thinking how nice they were.
