Daffs in Shevington
Not as pleasing as your 2 previous daffodil pics Mick.
The daffodils here in Nth Norfolk have taken a battering in the gales of the last couple of weeks,
It might be spring in Shevington, but you can still see that the well kept War memorial still has the Poppy wreaths in place.
And it always nice to see the flag flying on its pole on a breezy day.
He slid like a slug over the grass,
Snapping similar scenes in each borough he passed.
By hitching a flag to the mast, he thought he was saving the best to the last....
Not in my humble opinion did he do that!
they are award winning pedigree daffodils in Shevington. Planted by a retired professional landscaper and funded by the parish council.
only the best for shevy anywhere else 2nd class must be better soil in shevy
It doesn't have to be rich soil Fred, white Narcissus grows wild in many areas, that's if folk don't dig them up. My favourites...
Fred, they don't say Daffs in Shevy, only Narcissus or Narcisseae depending on which side of the Rec they live on, wonder if it was Dr Twigs Way the SPC got to plant them. §:¬)

The best scene 'twas in Scholes , where the Irish made home and laid coals in the grates
And baked praties for tay,
No Narcissus was present in those days gone by,
Only Shamrock 'twas sent for from the Emerald Isle.
(To the tune of Rose of Tralee)
Veronica,I've started singing Rose of Tralee..and now I'll be singing it all day..a beautiful song.
Maureen ... you're on my wavelength ... I don't know whether that's a good thing or not. But I do think the first photo of these three was the best! ;o))
Seen the sign pointing the way to Shevington but Ive never been.
Veronica, I'll name that tune in one......I can't get it out of my head now!!
It does have that effect Irene... or Molly Malone fits as well..;o))
You haven't missed anything Abram Alice !
Abram A, just follow to where the rainbow ends, then you'll be in Shevington. Ask Mick :)
Just to correct Fred on a point of Latin grammar. The plural of narcissus is narcissi. It is a 2nd declension masculine noun. Sorry to be pedantic but I do agree with the sentiment of your posting. I knew someone from Shevy once (it wasn’t his fault) and he spoke very posh.
We rode through Shevvy full of youth,
Proud and eager , bikers truth,
Uphill Gathurst ,
Downhill mad ,
What you bother , for a teenage lad,
Pints in Navy , sat by cut ,
Pints in tuthers , further up ,
Each and every , moments time ,
When fire was in me ,
and Shevvy mine...

I think the above commentator should think about getting his posts published they are very good
think about having your poems published you have some valid throught to make about our land
Agreed annemarie, e does post some excellent poems.
I would have thought many a person will have had a few pints or other beverages in the Navvy.
Is tuthers the Bird or the Plough - could be either? Though for preference and quality of beer I'd have gone up to the Bird.
