The Missing Fountain
It was much better when it was a flower bed anyway. Bring back the flowerbed.
Why is it missing? Is it moved in the winter moths for maintenance? I have never seen it, owing to not visiting the town nowadays.
Not surprised that the fountain has been taken away for I hope repair. A few years ago we walked through the park and you could not see the fountain for kids using it has a climbing frame and swinging from the ornate leaf's. It would not be ideal but Maybe it needs some type of barrier/fence to keep the little darlings at bay.
I believe it has gone for repair. To be honest, it looks really nice when in place and working.
PeterP kids will be kids it's moaning old people like you who give them all a bad name. They are not all bad uns.
I'm not keen on it I must say - it looks 'tacky'.
I agree with Alan H
You've not taken it to London with you have you Mick ? :)
Even when it was a flower bed, there were plants missing, and that wasn't kids, it was adults.
Basil Brush I never said ALL kids where bad, I have two grown up kids plus two grandsons and I would give them a good hiding if they even attempted to climb/swing on anything they should not be on. Its ferral kids and their parents who don't know any better who spoil it for the majority of people. Same with litter/disposable BBQ's most people take it home but some just dump it and walk off for some one else to clean up after them.
NW1 Standisher, you echoed my initial thoughts. Great minds think alike. Good photo though from the ghost of Shevy past.
I agree Peter P, sometimes it's the parents who don't set an example to the children. Low lifers .. ....
they'll be on benefits and have no morals.
Basil Brush is just trying to spoil things.
Ha! Watson, The Case of the Missing Waterworks. Obviously the work of that well known scoundrel, Professor Moriarty. Who else but he would interfere with someone's water works in such a foul manner?
Hand me my glass Watson and I will look for clues among the nether regions, there are bound to be mucky fingerprints in that area.
As I thought Watson, I see signs around the pipe outlet where the dastardly Moriarty has been trying to have it off.
I suspect that the waterworks will be found in the Gardener's shed, along with the statue of a boer war soldier and the mummified body of Arthur Askey.
Elementary my dear Watson!
When I first saw that fountain I thought it looked cheap and nasty. I have never had any reason to change my original opinion.
More evidence of the appalling judgement of Wigan Council.
Or maybe there were a few backhanders involved. Why would that not surprise me?
The damage these venal councillors have done to our town is incalculable and beyond repair.
