Nice pic Mick, I'm led to believe boy racers use this annoying the locals, I've used this road and it's a great short cut to Wigan, I can only pray that the authorities sort out the people who treat this like a race track before someone gets hurt.

Its a lovely road with some nice views of Scotsman Flash and beyond, now the old road into Wigan can be redesigned to make it safer for motorist, pedestrians and cyclist.
Well done to who ever was in charge of the construction.

Road to no where

What a great place for racing formula one mobility scooters! Or even Santa Pod Mobility Scooter drag races and time trials! It’s even got Armco for the visually challenged among us to bounce off. Someone would have to provide convenient Conveniences though. Too much excitement does funny things to us geriatrics!

Mick, how can you say it's "a short cut to Wigan", when it's half a mile further, if you want to get to Wigan from Winstanley?

It's a shortcut timewise, beats sitting on Wallgate.

Every time I go along it I am surprised how little it appears to be used, and has been since it was opened.

That road is the most wonderful thing, which has ever happened in Wigan.

I do my run along this stretch most days I agree it isn't the busiest but it has great views.

Its only taken me fifty years, but I never realised until I googled it just now that the word colitas in the context of its meaning in the song Hotel California ......
.....( although it can have several other meanings evidently ) ....refers to the aroma of marijuana.

A few weeks back, having been to NatWest and Galloways in Wigan,
my next call was Sainsburys at Marus Bridge, so i entered this new road
and when I got to the end of it , I was near Little Lane/Goose Green Club.
It had took me away from my destination. Next time I will go via the original route......Via Poolstock.
