Don't understand this crossing, I can only think it's for getting from one side of canal to other side, probably busy in summer and useless in winter.

I know this spot pretty well as it's the only point on the circular canal walk , ( Crooke to Red Rock ) where you have to cross a busy road . In fact , I can't think of any other bridge that doesn't allow you to pass under on the towpath .

Don’t use this crossing if you can help it, go to the next one. Lots of crazy drivers use that road.

This is a terrible crossing for both pedestrians and road users,it would be better controlled by lights.

Yes, thanks for the correction . The Rose Bridge crossing is so bad , I got a bit of a mental fix on it . It completely over shadows it's predecessor . It's not such a problem crossing there .

Yes, there is a crossing by the canal at Britannia Bridge.

Come to think about it , you have to cross Pottery Road as well . I'll get my coat .

100s of Ince school kids use this crossing everyday and have no problems, I also use it a few time a week and find that as soon as I stand by the side of the road the traffic will come to a stand still and let me cross.
Now Britannia bridge crossing is made more dangerous because fewer people use it and you get more speeding cars leaving Wigan or going to Wigan

Isn’t Mick spending a lot of time in Ince? I suspect he’s relocated up Belle Green Lane!

The crossing would be a lot safer if it was in the centre of the bridge.

They’re just lulling you into a false sense of security Mick. Sooner or later I’ll….I mean they’ll get you.

I think it's called 'old age' when traffic comes to a standstill to let you cross....its best not to feel flattered....
