Canopy
Photo: Brian (Sony DSC-H200)
how many features like this canopy will be saved or will every thing just be scrapped?
I bet a lot of Wiganers complained to the Wigan council about the cost of this OTT canopy when they first saw it on the old market hall shed.
It looks to be an original
canopy....wonder what will become of it if anymore of Wigan is demolished ?
Lovely craftsmanship here, sincerely hope it will be preserved, although I doubt it.
Well I hope it's saved and not used for scrap...
They could have Maypole dancing round it..
They should use it as a monument to Wigan as a market town.
Cant imagine anyone on Wigan Council will be too concerned over heritage and aesthetics they are all busy counting their money
I wouldn't be surprised if it was put at the entrance to the Grand Arcade---what a paradox that would be..
It looks ideal for chaining your best mate to, naked, on his stag-do in the middle of winter!
More to the point ( as it is Wigan we're talking about) Pole Dancing in the nightclub area of King St. Nothing's Sacred in Wigan
They kept it before so fingers crossed!
I was under the impression that this original market hall entrance canopy would be sited at the entrance to the new market hall which is to be built at Marketgate in Market Place. Though saying that you know how bulldozers have been accidently, though intentially reversed into and destroying things before.
one person cant see good in Wigan so why does it post
This is two markets we will have see demolished, it's a shame to pull this down.
A bit late in the day to comment but those that have power are not counting their money, they are counting yours. I dont think I have ever known of a council...Metropolitan or otherwise that wastes so much money !
It makes your eyes water at what the cost of building, demolishing and rebuilding was and is...
