Coppull factory
Lovely old building, I used to have a storage unit in there.
Built house now on the car park.
Is that a mosque ?
For anyone wondering , Hic Bibi is the name of the brook that marks the boundary between Coppull and Standish . Meaning ' Here I drink ' in Latin , the phrase , it is said , was used by Cromwell when the army stopped for refreshment on the march to Wigan after the battle of Preston .
It's interesting that what is now a track through fields was once the main highway .
There was also a brickworks here and you can still find the odd brick with Hic Bibi stamped on it . It is now a nature reserve .
Thanks Poet....
Old Olly certainly made his mark. "Many a slip between cup and lip"...
hic - I need a drink....interesting lesson Poet .
Didn’t this building have a copper dome at one time?
Yes DTease, but copper naturally turns green over time when it reacts with oxygen in the air, a chemical reaction known as oxidation.
The boundary between Coppull and Standish has, historically, been Tunley Brook and Stars Brook.
Hic Bibi Brook rises at Hic Bibi Well and is between Coppull and Worthington. Some say that Cromwell's men quenched their thirst at Standish parish church. There's various stories.
Outstanding depth of field there, old chap. Well done.
The bridge over Hic Bibi brook collapsed about five years ago ,I reported it to Chorley council ,but nothing done ,
