What a nice painting. It’s so detailed, it could pass as a photograph. Who’s it by?

Comment by: Alan H on 24th January 2022 at 09:29

A bit different to Melling’s flash. Wonder if the giant pike lives in there.

I think it's a screenshot from one of Mick's videos.

It's lovely round here, usually pretty quiet. Don't think a lot are aware of it.

Good pic Mick.
I have to say it is so sharp it doesnt look like your usual pics but perhaps you are a better photographer than you let us belive ....or is the fake Mick posting this ?

Comment by: Veronica on 24th January 2022 at 12:50

It's a very sharp image, the blades of grass are showing clearly.

Alan H, I was talking to a man who was present when Wigan and district anglers rescued the fish when Mellings Flash was drained and no above average size fish were recovered, and what they caught were released locally.
Possible folk lore I would think!

It isn't a painting. Probably the cameras fancy picture settings.

Mellings flash went years before Amberswood lake was created. There was a big pike in a small flash called the Big Vee nearby which I saw on a few occasions. When this was drained the pike was stuck in the mud an could not be reached.

I remember Melling's Flash, Melling's Farm and The "Three Bridges" well.

Mick: I think you’ve captured a UFO left of the photo in the clouds. I don’t think it’s the sun due to the shadows on the ground and banking opposite.
You have to open up or zoom in a bit, but it’s there.
What a shot!

Lovely scenery! and colours.

If the photo is facing towards Wigan(west) it could be an aircrafts lights on the flight path to Manchester airport.
