Photo-a-Day (Friday, 31st December, 2021)
Alley
It's Cooper's Row.
Not sure where this is. Could it be that the horrible head is at the end on the left. Or am I totally out to lunch.
Are those flags safe to walk on? They look well trodden and uneven
I've not been in the John Bull for years . It used to be frequented by types once know as Greeboes , i.e. Rock music fans , long hair , a whiff of patchouli about them . There was a very precarious looking banister on the top of the landing . The sort of thing John Wayne would crash through in a fight . Great pub . I hope it's not changed .
DP you are spot on the horrible head is at the end of the path
It must be one of the oldest buildings in Wigan, half hidden away. I'm astounded it's still standing. I love the old paving stones leading up there, so well trodden. I would'nt mind them in my garden.
Best jukebox ever and great craft beer bar upstairs.
Agree Jembo, best jukebox in Wigan. A great pub too
Great shot. Next time you're passing this site, look out for the fast fading "Ghost Sign" at the front edge of the gable end of the photography shop. You can still make out the faded outline, but sadly not the lettering which was "WALLACES".
Never been in this pub.Poet I used to work with a smashing young lad who used to frequent the John Bull and your description of him is spot on.I think I must be the only person on here who likes the Face.
Mick, when you were taking that photo did you have your camera in one hand and a Galloway's prata pie in the other?
You're right Peter, a precarious path to walk when wet or icy, and if someone's had one over the eight.
Pw - you're not alone.
