Nice pic Dennis, that avenue brings back memories when I worked the door at liquid, we ejected undesirables onto cobbles on R/H side half way down.

Why is it called College Avenue ? I don't remember a college in there.

Alan the college was at the end of the Avenue on Library Street

Its nice to see who ever has the building on the left trying to brighten the place up with those hanging baskets

I agree about the hanging baskets...especially with it being a narrow passageway, mustn't get any sun.

Is this the entry that led to the transport club in the sixties.one of the best clubs at that time in Wigan.

Alan Porter. College Avenue used to run from Millgate, down the side of the old technical college (now the town hall) across Library Street, and came out on King Street.
There is now a pedestrianised area between Millgate and Library Street, where it used to run.

Anyone remember 'The Movies' nightclub, the entrance was off College Avenue, you went down some steps to it, and it had an uneven floor, it felt weird as you walked through the place, because it made you feel more drunk that you actually were.
