Blackbird fledglings seem to be everywhere . I've seen tons this week . Lots of yellowhammers too Mick down Langtree . I' d been wondering why the swallows are late this year , then lo I saw my first one yesterday .
Nice picture Reverend .

I can’t tell which is which as regards swallows and swifts but it’s amazing to watch their aerial duels and acrobatics in the sky . I was transfixed the other day watching two . Along canals is another good place to see them . Bats in the evening are another of my favourites if you are lucky enough to see them , Had them just above my head one time , truly magical !

Hello again fair weather friend
Though you'll be gone when the sun slants low
At summers end ,
I'm glad to see you femme fatale
My Swallow , in sleek Morticia dress
Cutting above the rippling wheat
In sapphire black , you heartbreaker
Forever will I take you back
My Swallow for a little while ,
'Til late one magenta sunset eve
You tilt and turn back to the Nile .

Veronica and Irene, where are you? Missing your interesting and positive comments on P.O.D. !

Not sure where Irene is POD Fan but I have been abroad to the Isle of Wight. Although I did manage to look in on a few occasions. I'm sure Irene will be back soon though, she's probably having a Brief Encounter with some foreign blackbirds similar to the ones above! Thanks all the same for your interest.. nice photo of the Blackbird family, they do look nice and cosy amongst the sawdust.xx

Yes, I have had blackbirds in my garden nesting in a Camellia tree and there were two babies in the nest and they both fledged last week. I have had wood pigeons in my conifer hedge too and two of them fledged last weekend but they keep coming back waiting for me to feed them. Thanks for sharing this photo David, isn't nature wonderful.
