Standish Cranes
A very poor photo this yet again.
Soft mick gets THREE photos printed back to back has he queue jumped???
Peter Pudding, I will type this very slowly so you might find how Pads work for the average camera carrying joe
About 3 or 4 weeks ago I was out and about doing my corvid exercising and took some snaps of what I saw on my way.
I then sent them in to Brian at WW on the 4th March , just like any other of WW members would be required to do, then I waited to see if Brian had choose any of them to be used as a Pad, and after 3 weeks some of mine appeared
Some of the viewers of Pads might find that they can't bring themselves to comment on such an everyday snap of some cranes on a building site
But for others this one may remind them of shopping for their sausages at Chadwicks or even a memory of seeing Maggie sending in the demolishing men to knock down their pits that they used to work at. only to build new homes.
And maybe it may jog some pensioners think about moving to one of the Brideoake Court high class retirement apartments
I personally like Mick's pictures as he adds a lot of variety. He certainly puts himself about a bit, which is good, because we get to see it on here.
Thank you for posting Mick.
Once again my comment has gone missing....am I doing something wrong? I'll try again. I am seeing some names on here that I recognise from the Communication Messageboards. I sincerely hope that the commenters from there will enjoy the photographs and speak kindly of our photographers. It is pointless joining onto a photo site if the comments are all going to be about the photographers and not the photographs. I saw some dreadful things happen on the Communicate Messageboards by just a handful of people which is why I no longer go on there, and would hate it to be repeated on here. On the subject of which photos are shown, my friend sent in a beautiful photo of the fountain in Wigan Park some time ago and it was never shown. He didn't make a fuss about it but has sadly never sent a photo in since and he is a good photographer. Such a shame, I have seen some good photos of the fountain since but they weren't, in my opinion, as good as my friend's, yet they were shown. Who knows why? We just have to accept things. Anyway, re today's photo; It is so sad to see Chadwicks disappear with its brilliant shop and cafe. But time moves on and we can do nothing about it.
Looks like it was snapped while you where on the move Mick.
Not the best but well done and keep up the good work.
No I am not 'into' cranes but I accept it's the rule of Brian which photos are accepted for P a D and what is available.
Although I have sent photos in occasionally I haven't had all displayed but hey-ho that's the way things go.
The irony is not lost on me Mick
I was driving through Standish at night a week or so ago and saw a lot of red lights in the sky, I originally thought a plane was flying very low and then remembered about these very tall cranes. I can't see with these tall cranes operating that bungalow type housing as shown on the adverts are being built there.
Did the massive slab of polished marble engraved with Chadwick's that fronted Wellington Place go for recycling I wonder, or was it dumped? Would be a shame if so as it must have cost them a few hundred quid to have it prepared and installed.
Was Rainbows the children's charity shop, to the left of Mick's photo, having a refit, or had it closed with someone else taking over?
Not the best photo, but I can see what you mean about evoking memories.
I bet some of the comments thrown at Mick would also have been aimed at L. S. Lowry!!!!!
Cyril the Rainbow have close the shop and also closed the toy shop in Pem
Mick, sorry to hear that, they did support a good local cause.
Also sorry that those from off the message boards having become tired of being on there are now beginning to spout their imbecilic comments on here.
Cyril , If you look higher up in the night sky tonight, right side of the Moon, you will see Mars. Far more interesting than any crane lights, but funnily enough, we are working up there now as well, as we speak..
Frasier, Niles and Martin? (Cranes)
I'll get me coat.
Rainh, I'm not at all interested in crane lights, I just happened to notice them when passing. As for Mars, I can't understand why such an exorbitant amount of money should be spent on spacecraft to survey a dead and decaying planet when there's far much more important work waiting to be done here on Earth, living, breathing and beautiful, God's gem in the universe.
We aren't satisfied with polluting the Earth, or the moon for that matter with an estimated 200 tons of rubbish that includes bags of excrement and urine left there by astronauts, we've now begun with Mars.
Rainh, there was high cloud earlier but it did clear after midnight, the Moon though only being a quarter was very bright and made Mars a tad dull, though it could be seen.
With Mars being nothing but red dust, how come Martians were always made out to be green?
