Back Lane

Just goes to show if you have trees on the road , front gardens , and allow Nature to be a part of where you live , it makes huge difference . Even the council estate where I lived all the houses had front gardens and some trees on the road . Now all the gardens are gone and have been made into car ports . Looks soulless now .Great photo Dave , really like it . Love the view into the distance . Looks a nice place to live . Thank you for posting .
Lovely photo...haven't we got some lovely places around Wigan? It looks a very peaceful place.
Back lane must be one of Wigans best views
A real breath of fresh air... it looks a lovely area. Beautiful views from the top of the lane.
That's a cracking shot Dave, love the misty fields in the distance.
Agreed - I am lucky enough to live in the houses to the left of this photo, and the view over the Douglas Valley towards Ashurst Beacon and Dalton is lovely all year round. We sometimes don't appreciate what's literally in front of our own eyes...
Some years ago when I had the puff to cycle up Wigan Lane I went down Back Lane..it was lovely,as children would say..I whizzed it down..it is a lovely area.
Lovely view this, you can't beat trees in a street.
Maureen I would love to get my bycycle out of the shed, but I think kids would stare at me and shout ''look at that old lady on a bike"...
Veronica,I would love to get on my bike again,it's just the freedom..I used to go on good rides with Cliff, going through country lanes and you could smell all the greenery,it was heaven, but as you say the kids of nowadays would have a field day wouldn't they..a woman used to live near us ..and she was knocking on a bit..she went up this Avenue where I live like it wasn't a problem and always had a cigarette in her mouth, how she did it I'll never know...re- biking,I would love to have more puff in order to get back on my bike..I'm afraid the Covid made a bit of a mess with my breathing..never mind eh lol.
Used to live in Appley Bridge many years ago, came off the M6 and down Back Lane nearly every day coming home from work.
The area is very rural and a great place to live.
In fact the left turn in the picture went onto the estate I lived on.
For all you dreamers who say they want to go on a bike ride, enroll at Wigan council bike ride, you are escorted in small groups along safe easy peddling tracks.
Britboy was at one time a member of Wigan advanced drivers.
It's not safe on the road anyway Maureen , take care. x
On second thoughts Maureen we could join a group! Wait till summer....
