The Edington Arms
I wonder if the landlord rents out car parking spaces to train commuters, I would if I lived there.
Always the Top Ale House to me.
No the landlord doesn't rent out parking there, there is a perfectly suitable parking area across the road.
Good clear photo Dennis , did you blur the car reg plates ?
Makes me laugh on google maps they blur the reg and door numbers , but theres a big dustbin at front with number on LOL.
no more pubs dennis we cant go in them
a dustbin with the car number on david
leigh arms before eddington i think ? firs pub i went in only 16 !!!
Mick no need to rent the pubs car park, there's a speciality built car park across the road owned by Network rail.
Cheer up Janet, this virus can’t go on for ever!
Yes David, I did blur the number plates. There are some very strange people about these days.
Door number on dustbin Janet LOL.
I always thought it was originally The Railway or The Station before The Edington Arms, but I am happy to stand corrected. Nice photo of a pleasing building. Looks nice and homely.
If I had parked my car at this pub, I would have backed in, to avoid
having to back out on to a main road.
It was the Leigh Arms before , a former landord John Edington refurbished it in 1990 and changed the name.
Mam, if pubs are shutting, where will my dad go?
Probably he'll go fishing and take some tins for sure.
He's never felt in river, but only time will tell,
its better he's on 't outside, as he smells more fresh as well.
Why do men like drinking?
That's what most men do,
They're brought up in the ale house,
and like the taste and view.
A pub to men's essential,
its a house within the soul,
But sadly some it drowns em,
and the devil turns up an all.
Does devil live in pubs mam?
No luv they threw him out ,
Jus the same like my dad,
Yes luv or roundabout ..
Irene, there used to be a pub further down Ladies Lane called the Railway but was generally known locally as the 'Pillars'.It was demolished sometime in early 1970's or late 1960's.
The Edington Arms is not a welcoming pub. It's a 'local' pub, for 'local' people. If you're not a 'local', try somewhere else where your custom is appreciated.
What a foolish comment by James Hanson.
Arthur, please explain why you think that?
You don't half make some daft and pointless statements, Mick! The landlord wouldn't make much. There's only room for around 3 cars.
