Stocks repaired
Photo: Dave (Oy) (iPhone 12 Pro Max)
Looks like its just had a heavy shower
Thats a really good photo Dave. The name Windy Arbor suits the location. If the stocks were there originally & it was wet & windy, it would have been punishment enough !
They look lovely. Just needed a bit of TLC.
Does anyone have a date when these stocks were built? It does look like the Council have done a brilliant job with the pointing. Lovely photo Dave.
18th century that's the best i can find, Grade2 listed.
I could touch one mon wi' a shirt stick who wants purrin in them stocks an peltin wi' rotten eggs.
That would be well used if the yobs of today were around then.
I like this photo Dave, its different, and didn't know it was grade 2 listed.
I wonder who that might be ' incognito cyclist ' !?
See, after all these years I still understand Wigan speak a bit ?
I would have thought that all Wiganer's would know that its Windy Arbour not Arbor
Yes JC, we know, but you are being pedantic.
Windy Arbor is a small place near the start of the M57 , near Rainhill and you will not find these stocks there.
Whiston.
