This will bring back some memories for Walt in North Yorkshire

Quite right Mick, August 1969 we tied the knot in this very church, 51 years ago now. Both our children were christened in this church. Thanks Dennis, beautiful photo, fond memories.

Our Lady's Church, I have never been inside. It looks beautiful from the outside.

Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception - on my mother's mother's side of the family , Gregory , were Catholic. The priest from this church was summoned to give the last rites to my Great Grandfather, William Gregory, dying at home in Hope Street (off Bolton Road) in the hard winter of 1940. William's son Jack went for the priest, at night, with a storm lamp and they walked in 5 foot snowdrifts.
Last in there in 1982 - a pretty church where strong local connections were retained.

I went to a friend's wedding there in about 1972 and still have some photos....me in a long cream pinafore dress over a yellow blouse and a floppy hat, and Peter in a velvet jacket! Oh boy, we thought we were the cat's pyjamas! That's a lovely photo, Dennis, on a perfect day for photographing a lovely old church.

Excellent photo Dennis, no jet streams in the pristine blue sky to spoil it, which is the setting for this photo.

It may be a long time before we see such a sky again David, we have gotten so used to seeing contrails in the sky that we take them as the norm.
Let’s hope it doesn’t take another lockdown to give us a repeat.

August 1969 was a good time to get married Walt - we too have just celebrated 51 years' marriage.

Pat, yes it was a great time of year the time of year I like the best. I remember it like it was just yesterday, the priest was Father Moriarty I guess many in Aspull will remember him. A great time was the 60s, so much happening. Congratulations to you and yours. " Stay Safe "

Walt - Father Moriarty conducted the funeral service for my Grandmother in 1982 and burial at St Elizabeth's.
Did a first class job.
