Snug as two bugs in a rug
Nice find Rev. Go on ,I will if you will, but I was here first, but I don't like going out in the dark, well you can old my hand.. OK....
WOW David what an amazing photo
Wow, I've no idea what they are. Maybe they are plastic ones you put in there. great photo all the same
David, they may be snug but don't be fooled--these Lilly Red Beatles cause tremendous amounts of damage to the Lilly plant. A good dose of insect killer is what I strongly recommend. However, it is a good picture I agree and that's what P a D is about.
Look like red lily beetles, get them sprayed Rev.
Are those lily beetles?
“I’ve got cramp in mi leg”
What a fantastic image.....on the down side are they Lily Beetles David ?
Red lily beetle..A beautiful insect but a pest if you grow lilies.
Red soldier beetles.
Brilliant for getting rid of garden pests like greenfly.
Amazingly observed and caught on camera! They look like they're in the "courting-seats" in the back row of the cinema, (perhaps "The Bug" picture-house of my childhood in Ince). The film doesn't look up to much but I think they're past caring!
great photo. what are they?
Lilly bugs?
Not only is Mick an expert art critic, he's now an entomologist as well.
These aren't lily beetles they are soldier beetles and they feed on greenfly. If you have them in your garden they do a good job.
Seeing you know so much about everything Mick, I'm surprised the government haven't called you in to sort out the Coronavirus crisis.
Yes, they are lily beatles - and this year I saw them early enough, and, thanks to lockdown, was around enough, to deal with them. No insecticide required - just a thumbnail - and then rub away any eggs they've laid. Then wash your hands.
Like the image you've conjured up Irene.
Sneaky little things, as soon as they become aware of your presence they fall to the ground belly up and become practically invisible. Don't be fooled by their appearance, they have a voracious appetite for lillys and will soon destroy your prized examples.
gerroff....I'm goin' making a cup o' tea!
Great photo David, does the Sony Rx10 have a Macro setting?
SCARLET LILY BEETLE.
Looks like there's going to be more.
Beatles.... come, come now you two.
Rev,that's how I deal with them, pesticides kill the good bugs too.Always called soldier beetles bloodsuckers, used to scare me when I was young and one landed on me but they are harmless
Oops - I plead the Scouse Amendment, Anne.
Not now Iv'e got a headache.
Get to the back of the queue - I was here first ....
Garry, where are you lad? Veronica and I need a sherry! xx
I need a cold drink Irene - it's hot in'ere! ;o))
David - it may have a Macro setting.. but, as with my phone and my computer, I only use these things, I don't understand them.
I'm at 10:26...a sherry coming up for you and Veronica, Irene..cheers.
