Photo-a-Day (Saturday, 14th March, 2020)
Across Wigan
Photo: Dave (Oy) (Nikon D850)
Can just see Rivington Pike on the right and Haigh Hall on the left
A lovely stew of day long settle,
In 'visioned pot beyond my kettle.
Now smacking lips upon their flow
While towering clock says … two to go?
Not spot the ball....spot your own chimney pot. A wide spectrum to dwell on.
A picture that immediately draws the viewer in from the church tower right, to Haigh Hall left, and finishing with The Pike at Rivington.
What a vista....
Pin sharp as usual. Good pic.
This is a really good photo Dave, very clear & has the natural colours of Wigan, also the eye can see the Hall & the Pike. Great !
Here's a bigger version for a proper sken :)

Cracking picture, take note Mick.
Yes Anne and possibly none in use.
Very good photo Mr Oy.
Really enjoyed your short verse Philip , but with all your poems , takes me (which I urge others to do ) many reads to fully appreciate it , as all quality works should . Must admit , I felt your poem begs to move on with further lines . Did you get a telephone call with a nailed on at Cheltenham, which disrupted your inspirational flow somewhat perhaps ?
lord Crawford and lord leverhumes seats in vision good one dave
Many thanks, XPat. And, yes, I could have 'moved it on' a bit, in fact, with play on the noble carrot in mid-distance and the bucksome cabbage on the left. But nay, I reckoned my dandy piece gave all the steam required in homage to Dave's delicious mix. And as his clock fingers were physically impossible to shift onto the celebrated 12:00 position, I gave a question mark that asked more for kindly hearts than query - got to push the boat out.
I hadn't bothered with Prestbury Park this time, apart from scanning the newspaper supplement, and then seeing a horse retain its title. And while we still see some very good jumpers, I get the feeling that there isn't a 'freaky great' amongst them.
Arkle was such a horse; Knocked 17 seconds of the course record when winning the 1965 Gallagher Gold Cup! And It's on Youtube - 'Arkle Gallagher' will find it. Take care.
Thanks Dave - a warm grey throughout your Photo, I feel.
