Is that a selfie, Brian?

Good one anyway.

Merry Christmas to you and all.

Its ridiculous this day and age homelessness and people busking in the streets, how has it come to this, I am ashamed of todays society how things have changed, its an awful time.

This gentleman is ever-smiling and his happy greetings are heart-warming, day in, day out, whatever the weather.

This guy must make a decent living and I don't blame him.Good luck to him.

It's nice to see a real live Santa instead of the blow-up ones. I feel like sticking pins in them when I walk past! I don't like the others that start singing when you walk past either, especially those with American accents.
On my way home I saw a deflated one in someone's garden - it wasn't me who did it!!! They look awful - especially after Christmas has come and gone! ;0)

Thankyou, Helen. We may all be scattered over this country and others but we are all together on Wigan's P-a-D. Merry Christmas, everyone. xx

This man is Spanish and he has been playing in that same spot for a few years now. I love saying Buenos Dias or Buenos Tardes to him and he always shakes my hand. Great man. Keep playing amigo

When did Father Christmas become Santa? I don’t believe you all worship at the altar of the Liberal do gooders! Next think you will be saying “ Happy Holidays” ( not you Irene😂)

Nadolig Llawen to everyone on Photo-a-Day and thank you for your lovely photographs during 2019.

May 2020 bring good health and happiness.

I think ' Santa' came before Father Christmas. Santa ( Saint Ncholaus) Clause..
The Saint who gave to the poor., if my memory serves me well.

I always say Father Christmas, Broady, and NEVER "Happy Holidays" as you know. Pat McC…..is your greeting Gaelic? My daughter lives on Lewis and "Nadolig" is familiar.

Comment by: Pat McC on 24th December 2019 at 18:25

No Irene, it's Welsh, but I believe there are many similarities.
Your daughter lives in a beautiful part of the country.
Best wishes to you.

Julie, this man is not homeless. He gets on the bus home every tea time in Crompton St.after he has had a burger in McDonald's.

Comment by: Alan on 29th December 2019 at 11:52

Julie if he is homeless that I doubt very much. But what homeless people should do is have a wash and shave and find a job like the rest of us. Get on your own two feet instead of begging. Wigan and many towns look so untidy and scruffy with all these folk obstructing the pathways.
Merry Christmas.

You can bet this Father Christmas has a good lifestyle, after he's 'coppered' up at the end of the day, entertaining with his accordion. People choose to give because they like his playing, he's not a beggar. He even speaks with a Wigan accent these days! He does play some very good tunes...
