Post Office
Photo: Jane (iPhone)
I found out by going to Specsavers at Middlebrook that the last time I was in the town centre was when I went to Specsavers on Standishgate in 2014, there's been nothing in the town centre to attract me to go there for some years now, plus having to pay to park up when you can go an extra few miles to park free, and by the look of the footfall I'm not the only one.
A cold, biting day, Jane. And one on which the gentleman wearing the 'Old Gold' jersey of Wolverhampton Wanderers seemed envious of his fellow man's 'un-attached'? fleece-top.
More and more shops now doubling up n they can share the rates etc
I must admit the Post Office has brightened WH Smith's up a bit....it seems lighter an busier and is handy when you are shopping in the town centre, (what we have left of it!). However, I was sad to see the General Post Office building closed down.
Who would have thought in the days when it was a pleasure just to go 'window shopping', after the shops had closed and still lit up at night, before catching the bus home, that a future lay in waiting when towns would become empty, darkened areas. It wasn't unusual to see couples looking at rings in the Jeweller's windows on the way home from the pictures. I imagine the shutters are pulled down these days...so no peeping there! Or do they buy 'the ring' on the Internet?
