They should move it to the middle of the mini roundabout so it will be more prominent

Would HGV's delivering to the store get past it if it was in the middle of the island?

I wish it could have been displayed INSIDE Tesco where it wouldn't have become so weathered. It just looks forgotten.

I remember with fondness those great tryers Jinking Jimmy, Rocket Ronnie and Collapsing Campbell and the true greats Kenny, Ferguson, Hanley et al...
And a ghostly roar in the fruit and veg aisle.

A "token" gesture by Tesco PLC to act as if they cared that RL was ever played on their car park.
They could have placed it where the centre spot used to be.

If the brownish colour creeps higher, it will just look like a giant chocolate egg! I like the 'embossed' figures on the surface. I agree with Irene it should have been displayed somewhere inside, it wouldn't take that much room up..

Never forgot my childhood game ,
Rugby League was its name .
Not for women the teacher told ,
Not for fairies young or old .
Get stuck in mud or cold ,
Harder rain makes you stronger bold .
Up and under , the full backs fear ,
Will he catch it as the hit comes near .
Rugby League born and bred ,
I am old now , but memories fed .

A lot of hot water..scrubbing brush and bras so would have it looking like new..and then yes..put it in Tescos.

From Wigan Public Art Trail p.10:
Rugby Football, Artist: Joanne Risley, Installed: 2001

Central Park is the former home of Wigan Rugby League. To celebrate the impact that the team has had on the world of sport Tesco commissioned this cast bronze Rugby Football featuring famous players associated with the club; Billy Boston, Tommy Bradshaw, Joe Egan, Jimmy Sullivan. Care should be taken as this sculpture is sited on the edge of the roundabout.
