Lovely church in a lovely setting. Always wanted to live in Parbold.

Our very own, the legendary 'Big' Amy Holt WPC No1, is buried in the churchyard.
Also, the man who invented crosswords is in there, if you go in via the top gate he is in 6 across 4 down.

Yes Roy Amy is in with her mother in law and two brothers in laws
How many letters are in the crossword mans name.

Yes Poet, correct !! I like it.
I go in the churchyard regularly, my best mate is in there, near Big Amy funnily enough, he died aged 40, 38 years ago. RIP DHB.

Looks like it is the wrong crossword man. A number of other sources quote he died in Clearwater, Florida, cremated and his ashes scattered at sea after living for approximately fifty years in U.S.A.

Sorry Anne, this is only a joke, you've obviously not heard the joke about the crossword inventor in 'our' churchyard who is buried in a grave at a certain number across and down.
But, on a serious note, the crossword inventor was a man with the initials AW as I quoted to Mick, Arthur Wynne, who was born in Liverpool, and, as you correctly stated is buried in Clearwater, Florida.

I was christened in this church on 31st July 1949 by the Rev Barnes who is interred near to the main doors. My mum and her mum are buried in the church yard at the rear
