Time and place
Great pic,I love Aspull,my favourite place in all the areas of Wigan.
Yes Aspull is a nice area and still retains a lot of its character. I like the bus ride home through Aspull sometimes, it's a change from the train.
What a lovely composed photo..I love that clock.
I totally agree with you Elizabeth, a lovely pic and a great place to live.
I wonder if we people are much more happier when we live in small village-type areas /communities ? Wigan is only a small town , but even Wigan is subdivided into even smaller sections. Talking about subdivided , I remember different bonfires on Bonfire night , for different streets , not far away , but up and down one single road .
It was like , this our street , our place , yet we all belonged to the very same Council estate , with exactly the same houses and everything else .
I don’t want to get too Cosmic about this , but
maybe we all like the feeling of belonging , and the smaller it is , helps us to be more part of the family . Who knows . Just a thought when I read Elizabeth’s post . Thanks for posting Ron
Two more weeks 27 Oct that clock will be going back again 1 hour.
I got sick of doing this every few months, so now I just leave them alone and do things 1 hour later or earlier, for instance If I want to catch the 9am bus to be somewhere I catch the 8am so I arrive at exactly the same time as I would have if I had changed all the clocks
Lovely photo Ron, how come your pics can stir the memory glands like no others.
That's a lovely scene. xx
Interesting Xpat - looking back to living in Scholes 50 odd years ago it did feel you belonged to a close community. I noticed the same living where I do now, although from a small village,a small town is slowly emerging and it's not quite the same. A lot more strangers nowadays, but so was I, 50 years ago. I think you're right.
