Nice to see some country side again, lovely colours of the fields, but the poor tree looks damaged...

O well done Poet, that’s a splendid photo.
I like those branches reaching up to the heavens. Excellent.

What can compare with an autumn morn ,even the birds seem to welcome the dawn .
The fields look strangely different shorn of their wheat and corn.

Wonderful picture Poet. Gives me such a buzz looking at it, as it reminds me of the feeling I had as a child at the start of the Summer holidays. Six weeks of carefree adventure in the countryside. Pure Paradise!! Fields Of Gold, love that song.
This is why a lot of young folk are having problems these days. They are either stuck indoors on Xbox,
or playing around concrete. This is all they need. Thank you for posting Poet

Nice one Poet, church clock was correct at midnight.

Looks to me as though it could be a sycamore tree, Poet - A hard wood with a fine catalogue; butchers' blocks, dainty veneers, . . .
I can't imagine a woodpecker having much trouble with this particular specimen, though.

Born in Tontine, both my parents were, and my mums parents, and her grandparents were.
Tontine is a district of UpHolland the same as Scholes is a district of Wigan or Kitt Green is a district of Pemberton.

I used to love climbing trees and that was one of my favourites.

Love this photo. It somehow says, "First of October".

Irene you are almost right, but you have missed out the Tuesday because it actually says Tuesday, 1st October, 2019

Comment by: Alan on 1st October 2019 at 13:50

That tree needs some cosmetic work.

I love trees..have told this before I know, but some years ago we were in Yorkshire..me and my hubby were out with our eldest lad,and were hugging this particular tree..my Son said "Are you sure I'm not adopted".

As a little boy in the 50’s I often walked the fields of gold, such innocent times.

I take it Irene is speaking metaphorically Mick....as if the very fields and sky know of the unmistakable transition to October, I agree with her and it's quite chilly to say the least !

Comment by: irene roberts on 1st October 2019 at 18:02

That's exactly what I meant, Veronica....the turn of the year. xx
