Reminds me of one of those black screw tops on bottles of Tizer, Dandelion and burdock etc.

You did well to tap on the old bottle tops Anne. I also remember that they each came with a gutta percha washer. And surely, they don't make 'em' like that anymore(?).

Quite right P G....the washers were orange in colour and squeaked when being tightened up. Not see any for years and years.
