Whay does a very nice, naturalistic picnic area need raised flower beds, for people to trip over ??

Helen if someones eyesight is so bad then why go there,it's a beautiful setting..and thank you Ron.

I've never had much liking for the 'clamber over-get in, if you can' (what cheek!) type of seating, shown here, and prefer the very much easier 'shuffle of the open-ended' seating, instead. But where's the linen?

If you go down to the woods today
You’re sure of a big surprise
If you go down to the woods today
You’ll never believe your eyes

For every tree that ever there was
Will be down on the ground for certain because today’s the day the Lumberjacks had their Picnic

I'd say that sightless folks should be entitled to go here as those who are sighted. Why discriminate.

Perhaps 'that lot' at the Hall move folk on because of these areas.... Cheeky blighters!
There's no wastage with the trees though - kids can use their imagination - the foreground log could be a pretend crocodile!

Veronica, we used to go over Viridor Wood when our dog Ben was alive, and there as a big log like that, and the rangers had carved a face in it so children could pretend it was an animal and sit on it.

I sometimes wonder if children have lost that sense of make believe that we had Irene. It's all been said before - they seem more sophisticated nowadays - due to more being expected of them at school and of course the technology. Not 'playing out' either - a generation that lost out in the freedom that we had- such a shame....

Phyllis,I think you totally misunderstood my comment..I did not say anything about sightless people..
What I did say was anyone with poor eyesight shouldn't take chances.

Veronica , Who or what is stopping you and others building that world again ? If you want to build a wall to stop progress , stop complaining build it for heaven sakes !
Every fault in life is blamed on someone or something else .
‘I sometimes wonder’ ? As if some plague or deep depression has happened in Wigan , and took that away from you .
When all that happened was change which you and others don’t like ! No discussion about bringing investment to the young people of Wigan and their future , Just what we have lost . Why do people on here have a fear about talking of the young people of Wigan , and our support to move them forward? It’s just negative over and over again . Our day has gone ! We need to bring investment to Wigan to take Wigan forward . That depends on our young people now, yes now, let go !

Hello there ! It's Groundhog day and it's wet outside.

Comment by: Veronica on 7th June 2019 at 22:58

We just like to look back Julie as has been said before.. It's very enjoyable and not in the least depressing.

ps It's one of the foibles of ageing - meandering down Memory Lane it keeps the brain cells working Julie. Plus there's no pressure because we've already been there and done it all. How's that for a bit of philosophy at this time of night/ early morning! Ozy is the best one for a debate though! ;@)
