wonder how long it will be before that cable is cut by the neds, out and about with only bother and vandalism on their minds.

What I did find surprising when I first saw these is that there is a line of these both sides of the approach to the Hall in the grass where people walk, kids play and dogs run.
They have created a hazard where there was not one previously; for the unsuspecting to trip over, for the children to injure themselves on and for dogs to gnaw through the small electric cable.
A complete lack of thought has gone into the type and placement of these lights
How long before one of those appears on Bargain Hunt as post industrial chic?
A table top Ewbank mangle appeared a couple of years ago and it couldn't make a fiver at auction - quite rightly.

Another sign of the creeping urbanisation of a great green oasis in Wigan. Sad.
It seems ugliness is the order of the day now at Haigh Hall! There are far more attractive lamps to light the way if those in charge had some taste! If the 'neds' cut those cables they deserve to end up as stiff as props and hair standing on end! I would have no pity for them..
