And Rivington pike.

Mick. This is a fantastic photo, it is breathtaking, some folks think your nuts but this will silence all the critics.

Comment by: Helen of Troy on 27th January 2019 at 07:46

Thats a good one Mick. It shows Haigh Hall in relation to its surroundings. Twixt the hills & township.

Comment by: JJP on 27th January 2019 at 07:57

Good one Mick, where did you take this one from ? Scholes area, some high vantage point. Rivington Pike appears to be looking over Th'alls shoulder but in fact it is much further away, trick of the camera eh ! Like it !

Comment by: irene roberts on 27th January 2019 at 08:53

Have I got my bearings right here? That looks like Rivington Pike to the right above the hall.

Comment by: Julie on 27th January 2019 at 09:19

A brilliant photo mick its lovely all of the surroundings. Especially of haigh hall thankyou Mick its brightened me up.

Comment by: Veronica on 27th January 2019 at 09:24

Two of the nicest views of favourite places. Southerners wouldn't believe the lovely countryside around Wigan, Horwich and Bolton. They still think we have factory chimneys belching smoke!

Comment by: Susan on 27th January 2019 at 09:51

Yes,he is nuts and jealous,if someone else had put this photo on he would be pulling it to pieces, make no mistake.

Comment by: Mick on 27th January 2019 at 10:16

Its taken from Little lane railway bridge.

Good 'un this Mick, is that Marlybone/Leyland Mill Lane, Douglas Valley in the foreground. Where did you take this from ?

Comment by: kath on 27th January 2019 at 11:29

great photo!

Comment by: Helen of Troy on 27th January 2019 at 13:07

Little Lane, is that the Pemberton Little Lane Mick ? It crops up in my family history.

Comment by: Philip G. on 27th January 2019 at 13:47

I think quite a few of the French Impressionists would have taken a crack at this.

What a blesséd vantage point is Winter hill and what stunning contrasts can be seen from there. Stand here on a cold January day when the sky is a dome of lapis lazuli and the sun orange and behold the far horizons. Last Wednesday,on such a day, with snow lying across the moor, I saw in one instance the hustling Manchester skyline and with a mere turn of the head the majesty of the Lakeland mountains shrouded in snow. Quite remarkable that you can look down into Wigan and see the Isle of Man at the same time.
Splendid hill. Splendid photo.

A nice piece Poet. 'Across the moor' -Lovely.

Comment by: Janette on 27th January 2019 at 15:18

You are dead right Susan. Anyone else posting this and he would have been ripping it to shreds.

Comment by: Veronica on 27th January 2019 at 16:07

Not forgetting the tops of the Welsh Mountains Poet. The photo reminds me of childhood days at Haigh Hall and grown up days around 'Rivvy'... The sunsets from the Pyke are marvellous...

Comment by: Dave (Oy) on 27th January 2019 at 20:22

That's a nice shot.

He's still nuts :)

Comment by: Alan on 27th January 2019 at 21:40

Yip a fruit and nut case pulling the trigger, but nice shot.

Comment by: Thomas(Tom)Walsh. on 28th January 2019 at 00:22

Mike , fantastic. Thank you.

Comment by: Dennis Miller on 28th January 2019 at 03:40

That IS a brilliant shot Mick.. but you are still nuts! :-)

Comment by: Mick on 28th January 2019 at 10:01

Dennis if you had leaned your bike against the railway bridge and stood on crossbar to get the view, you could easily have got the same brilliant shot.

Comment by: H. C. on 28th January 2019 at 11:33

An all in photo excellent Mick, you still can't spell though!

Comment by: Alan on 28th January 2019 at 12:16

Must be a penny farthing then, mick.

Comment by: Tony Maloy on 28th January 2019 at 15:35

Not a very clear shot is it though. Looks like it's been taken through a pair of tights.

Comment by: john on 28th January 2019 at 15:51

What a great picture. I love it.

Comment by: Ken R on 28th January 2019 at 17:16

It would be nice to know which "Little Lane" this was taken from.

Comment by: Anne on 28th January 2019 at 20:28

Ha ha ha Tony what are you like.

Comment by: Mick on 28th January 2019 at 22:28

Tony I agree with you but thats the best I could manage with my little camera, but if your looking for a photo more in focus have a look at the next days photo of the New Pub foundations and the pile of sand.

Comment by: Veronica on 29th January 2019 at 07:46

I'm surprised the photo is as clear as it is with the distance involved between Haigh Hall and Rivington Pike! ( I'm no photographer!)
