Autumn in the park
Mike . I think the composition.of this photograph is outsanding ,one of your best .
Lovely scene very Autumnal.
Irene if you are looking in - the Milford train is running at 02 45 on Channel 10 Laura nd Dolly doing some last minute shopping....
What a beautiful photo, and how special it is. On Summer Sundays in Summer we went either to Haigh Hall or Wigan Park, (we never called it Mesnes Park), and we always went in the café. You could sit upstairs in those days. My Mam and Dad had a cup of tea and I had a glass of fizzy Vimto with a blob of ice-cream in it. There was something special about the café but as a child I didn't know how to explain it....it was only when I grew up that I realised it had a 1920s atmosphere. Many years later, a little boy and girl put their hands in mine and we too went up those steps into the café and it was as if time had stood still. When we came out, they rolled over and over down those grassy slopes, as their Mum had done before them. And so it continues, because in due time ANOTHER little boy and girl do exactly the same and Grandma smiles and remembers.
This scene would make a lovely painting a gorgeous Wigan beauty spot.
Those 'lazy hazy crazy days of Summer' Irene; and, yes, days when Roly-polies thrill, by their whirling tizzies.
And Wigan Park really does sound better than Mesnes Park.
How odd, Philip.....your mention of whirling tizzies....my Mam was called Tizzie! Veronica, just watched it, my dear....not a dry eye in the house!
A nicely-positioned first comma Irene. Thanks.
Absolutey crackin’ pic Mick.
Mesnes Park is a lovely space to be, in Summer or Winter.
The newly renovated fountain and bandstand are just lovely.
It’s a a pity the bowling greens and tennis courts have been neglected.
Hello Maureen, I bet you could do a fab painting of this !
Hello Elizabeth, and thank you..am doing a couple at the moment..doing one while waiting for another to dry. Hope to meet up again in the New Year.
