Just goes to show whats under the surface if you jump in for a swim,seems a good thing magnet fishing saves the waterways a job.
Surely that's enough to put youngsters off swimming in the canal..... Makes my blood curdle seeing all that rusty iron dredged out.
Who disposes of the junk that is left on the canal back though ?
Just seen a scrap van parked on the Douglas bridge, near the North Stand end of the D.W. stadium. Maybe they were picking it up?

Have you ever noticed how much scrap metal there is at the side of railway lines? I wonder why they don't collect it all together and sell it? There must be hundreds of tonnes of the stuff.
