King Street is an excellent example of the sad decline of Wigan town center over the years.

Under those stairs is were Gerard Masham was found murdered in 1989.

I remember that Spenian, as I was working for a firm of Accountants opposite the old Wigan Library at the time. It was shocking and so very sad.

Someone mentioned the other day about all the pubs in Wigan area closing and that maybe one day in the future they would do a full circle and be popular again ,well looking at this picture this looks as though it's done a full circle and gone back to the days of Oliver Twist it's disgusting.

Does anyone remember Wigan Councils logo from a couple of decades ago? "Wigan is growing, come and grow with it" Growing in litter and declining buildings by the look of it. Not surprising really, when one considers who is now installed as leader of the council...
