On the prowl
Such vulnerable creatures - always getting themselves in 'lumber and losing their way - ' especially when crossing the road! I see them many a time near where I live.
we have hedgehogs walk into our garden from next door. Fascinating little animals. They like mealworms that all from the bird eeder
A little wandering nomad, only just awake
The contents of a pie that the gypsies used to bake.
I stood beside that forest glade, 'neath burly trees of green
And heard the sounds of nature told, once rustling-deer unseen.
The blackbird gave his fruity air - pervading treetop-oath
For him I'd wished a song to share; now patterned life for both.
The foxgloves tall, of easy pink, held dancing all-around
Then duly gave each priceless gift, those delves-of-worth, profound.
Yaffler, loud, had gone to ground, I knew those raucous yaps;
Their nestlings feed on insects found, through door-of-endless-raps.
When upon the homeward path - my orchid-search resigned,
I gently held the broom aside, then closed the gate, behind.
It's a very light coloured one, not seen one so light before. Were you up and about early Rev.?
I thought they were flat.
The trouble with hedgehogs is that no one bothered to teach them to run. If only they cou!d run a little faster they wouldn't end up looking like a prickly tomato pizza at the side of the road.
Yes they're very much like tortoises because they don't rush about much and that's why they end up flat! Makes you wonder if they are related! They are quite popular on Birthday cards too because they are so cute!
There's not much more you can say about them really.....
Just in case ....only joking!
Does anyone know what they taste like?. After being baked in clay for a while.
