Dear belovéd! We are gathered today
To witness the marriage of Mankind and May,
And leaved in lace for matrimony
Stand a congregation of Cherry trees.
The choristers sing from the raiment Psalms,
And pray that we maybe forever joined!
But briefly did we enjoy our bliss
Who stood in the cumulus cluster and kissed,
'Til the wind wafted the tattered wedding frock,
And a spume of sleeting blossom dropped
In a shroud of pink upon the ground
At the place where once we two were bound.

Trouble is first bit of a breeze and all that Blessed Blossom will be on the ground, unlike the Blossom in Japan which stays on the trees for weeks.

I have a crabapple tree full of blossom which begins as a deep pink fading through to pale pink, equally as pretty but lasts longer. The odd thing is the tree has not grown any taller or in girth, it was here when I moved in almost fifty years ago.

Forgot to compliment the photo, lovely combination of man made and nature.

MaureeM! You’ve done it again!

I always think trees look their best when in blossom.

There's an Hawthorn overlooking my back garden - its a mass of blossom and I don't mind one bit when it sheds its petals. The smell is gorgeous!

DTease..I haven't done it of course, this stupid pad has. Watch this space in case there's another blimp.ha ha.

A smashing photo David, and one that also reminded me of 'something seen' just last week.
A pretty, well-dressed woman - whom I later assumed to be in her early twenties', and from Japan -, walked by and floated a knockout smile in my direction as I tended to my front garden.
A few moments later, I watched her take photographs of the four blossom trees that stand just fifty yards from my house; her photos for the folks back home, perhaps.
A sight to behold.

Maureen its just making sure you meant what you said! ; o))

Hawthorn is at its best now Veronica, so take 'that photograph.'
I snapped ('photographed') a belter of the said variety at Pennington Flash last week.

In the late 80s I was living on Pemberton Road, Winstanley. The cherry blossom trees that lined each side of the road were so beautiful. Council workers turned up one morning in May and proceeded to prune the branches. The flowering span is so short - 2 weeks perhaps? I often wonder who the bright spark was who authorised this pruning when they had the other 50 weeks of the year to do this, and everyone could have enjoyed the beauty and splendour of these trees.

Excuse me landlord, could I have a glass of whatever DTease is drinking please, but with a twist of lemon,...on second thoughts, make that a double.....and forget the lemon.....I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea....what's that you say?. he's supped the blimmin' lot ? Oh buggeration!....Sounds just about right for that flippin' miscreant. Make that a pint of Southern Comfort then.

Comment by: Veronica on 24th May 2018 at 21:54

You must send the photo in Philip - they tend to last a little bit longer than the flowering cherry.

Comment by: Veronica on 24th May 2018 at 22:49

Oozy I think Dtease's legs are chapped making a noise like that!

Comment by: Philip Gormley. on 25th May 2018 at 00:14

I only have the Pennington hawthorn, Veronica, which I've tried unsuccessfully to send you - prob's with emails etc., unfortunately. Here's hoping.
I'll also try to discover the correct procedure needed to submit a photo to P.a.D.

Maureen, I love the way you give your iPad a good talking too as though it had human traits. I can just see you sitting it down in front of you and saying " Now look here iPad I have given you warning after warning but you don't take a blind bit of notice, you still keep on repeating everything I say Parrott fashion". " You do realize that we can't go on like this don't you". "Unless you change your ways I'm afraid that I will have to take drastic action and I'm sure you know what that means don't you?". "That's right iPad, a Factory reset! "Your brain will be scrambled and you will be turned into a raving idiot"
THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING!

Comment by: Veronica on 25th May 2018 at 14:19

Worse still Maureen it could start speaking a foreign language - think of Buzz Lightyear in 'Toy Story' speaking Spanish!

Detease, you've just painted a picture that isn't too far away from the truth..While reading the news on it,it decides to go blank, then other times on the screen it will say Awww...upload.I switch it all off to give a well break but to no avail ..All this plus repeating itself..
So you see Detease my dear, even with all this agro,I am determined to keep my cool and lose any sleep over it ( I've just noticed it's even taken a "G" out of the word "Aggro") but there you go..another telling off tonight..you have thought it would have learned its lesson by now wouldn't you..it'll be sorry one day if I have a little win on the lotto and buy myself a laptop..just you wait and see.x
