Today's culture plus neglect .

Comment by: Phil on 27th March 2018 at 05:35

I can see the shadow of you taking the photo Mick.

Comment by: Sue on 27th March 2018 at 06:18

Why would you ?

Comment by: Mick on 27th March 2018 at 07:17

I cant understand it, one of the chip cartons was half full with chips and a fork but they had gone cold when I discovered them,

Comment by: Julie on 27th March 2018 at 07:45

Its just laziness leaving chip trays like that, why do it when there are litter bins nearbye. Its not fair leaving it for the council to tidy it up, and it also spoils it for the park, and the people who want to come and have a strole around.

Comment by: Veronica on 27th March 2018 at 07:46

Do these people realise just how near in proximity rats are to humans and how they are feeding them and causing them to multiply? Idiots!

Comment by: kath on 27th March 2018 at 08:40

lazy slobs. What is the matter with people that they can't ind a bin? Who do they think picks up their rubbish to keep this park a nice place to sit and have dinner?

Comment by: Maureen on 27th March 2018 at 09:01

To put it simply. They're just morons.

Comment by: Dabe (oy) on 27th March 2018 at 09:02

Rubbish photo that

Comment by: Helen of Troy on 27th March 2018 at 09:41

As Alan says, todays culture......i had better not say any more !

Comment by: Garry on 27th March 2018 at 09:50

This really is anoying, driving round you'll see people throw ie Mcdonalds/Kentucky bags out their car/van/trucks and it's all over the road and pavement. One area that's littered is over the old Hindley South railway station on Liverpool road, from Hindley to Platt-Bridge.

Comment by: Elizabeth on 27th March 2018 at 10:27

I agree with all the above comments. Why do people think it's someone else's responsibility to bin their rubbish ?They must be feeding nests of rats, they are idiots.

Comment by: irene roberts on 27th March 2018 at 11:27

A couple of years ago we saw a young couple eating a MacDonald's meal in a car in Wigan. When they had eaten them, they opened the car window, threw all the bags and cartons out and drove off. My children weren't allowed to drop one item of litter and I know that the lesson went home as my grandchildren don't drop litter. But they have to be taught by example. How people are brought up has a lot to do with it.

Comment by: Mortarmillbill on 27th March 2018 at 12:45

Solution - make an effort to catch the culprits in action and make them spend a day clearing litter in a few of Wigans many grotspots.

Comment by: Poet on 27th March 2018 at 13:20

Morons cant read simple lines
So it's pointless putting up signs,
They've spent all their money on wine,
So it's useless issuing fines.
Though politically incorrect I declare,
It's futile to give counseling care,
For when they come out of re_hab,
They'll still drop their kebabs,
And the rest of their unsavoury fayre.
Put the culprit in front of the beak,
You'll hear their whinning bleat,
"There wuz no bin yer honour,
So I dropped me doner and left it on the park seat".
So let us waste no time awhile,
When dealing with these citizens vile,
For the only solution
Is quick execution,
No Judge. No Jury. No Trial.

Comment by: Veronica on 27th March 2018 at 13:43

How right you are Irene...my grand children wouldn't dream of throwing litter on the ground.

Comment by: Ken R on 27th March 2018 at 16:58

Another, life photo Mick, A lot of people don't think they are doing anything wrong. They just don't care, they have no sense of public duty, they just don't give a s---.

Comment by: Jinksi on 27th March 2018 at 18:29

Scumbags, dragged up by scumbags who will drag up there little scumbags it's a merrygo round were some will never jump off it.

Comment by: Julie on 27th March 2018 at 18:38

If you know something is always there you breed dependency. With dependency comes apathy . Why work when you know the state will pay? Why stop smoking when you know there is a doctor who will give you a pill. Why lose weight , what for? Why stop having babies when you know there will always be a house , money or not . They know , someone else will pick it up. They are not Morons Maureen , they are savvy . We are the fools for this , we should each blame ourselves , not I , WE!

Comment by: Fred Mason on 27th March 2018 at 19:23

I am agreeing with all the comments above but I must be getting old because I remember MY parents saying the same things when I was kid in Wigan. They said this would never happen when I was a youngster.

So, nothing changes does it.?

Interesting shot.

Julie, you are right in everything you say..I'm afraid that's how the country is run,a house nearby has been given to a couple who don't know the meaning of tidiness or cleanliness..during the very cold snap they had all the windows open which proves to me that they're having the heating bills paid for by the council,so therefore why not just put all the heating on..a young woman that has visited them has five children by five different men..savvy maybe..and damned annoying, but what a way to live.
P.S..none of them get a bus to go anywhere,it's always a taxi.

Comment by: Johnny on 27th March 2018 at 22:33

Charles Saatchi would pay a fortune for this piece of installation art. It'll be in the Tate Modern soon!!
Looks like the occupant of the bench and dinner guests scarpered sharpish!!

Comment by: Maureen on 28th March 2018 at 08:34

Yes Johnny,he could put it alongside Tracy Emins bed..another eyesore.

Perhaps a chink of light this morning as I read of government plans to put a levy on all bottles and cans which can be reclaimed by returning them to the shop.
Give something some value and it won't be disguarded.
H.M. Government evidently consult PAD. Has our cycling eco warrior saved the planet?
