Red Rock Bridge
Good photo Mick. Has the work on the pub been completed yet, oh bye the way who's bike is that blocking all the busy traffic.
That bike is going to end up a piece of flat steel.
its that bike again.I dont know hou you get all this free time
Know that view well - although to me, the pub is the Crawford Arms. 30+ years ago they used to do beer battered cod and chips. Used to call once a year when my mother had her annual hip check at Wrightington Hospital.
What work on the pub? It has been shut up for ages.
Can remember drawing for pegs at the back of this pub for fishing in the Wigan schools fishing matches over fifty odd years ago
I remember fishing in the schools fishing matches.. in the early 1960's If you managed to catch a fish no matter how small you were more or less guaranteed to win a prize. One year I was in the Thomas Linacre School team and as usual at the end of the match not having caught a fish I went home.In school on Monday, Freddie Laithwaite, from my class, came up to me and gave me a fishing reel. I asked what it was for and he said you were in the winning team.
One of the few pubs in England to have its own traffic lights coming off the car park.
The pub last known as “Bridge 63” after the canal bridge it sides on to, has been rumoured to have been getting work done to it, with the odd skip appearing now and again. There are loads of tales about what is really happening to it. However it has been and still is boarded up and looking an eyesore - virtually derelict. Sad!
The traffic lights are not for the pub, but for walkers on the canal path having to cross the road.
