Rainy Days & Mondays
Photo: Steve Carter (Panasonic DMC-SZ3)
great photo! it sums up this winter perfectly!
Yawn! Roll on Spring.
"Through a glass darkly!". We lived behind St. William's Presbytery wall when I was growing up and this reminds me of the view that Little Irene had when sitting on the front doorstep with a jam-butty... The wall in front of me and the houses across the road. I feel five years old again looking at this!
Living in the North West I suppose it's only to be expected in any season- rain is the one thing guaranteed. The main topic of conversation in this country is the weather and the Continentals are baffled by it!
Nothing wrong at all with this country, indeed the NW.
I prefer this country than others.
Not a nice view from the window is it.
I suspect this could be anywhere in Wigan ie, Ince, NewSprings, Springview, Platbridge, Goose Green, Pemberton etc etc. They all look the same.
I love a nice garden wall ( better than any fence) and I bet Steve is nice and private in his - especially in the summer.
Alan you don't need to be in another country you're already in The Doldrums. ;-))
Looks as though it might be Douglas Road, off the top of Standishgate/Wigan Lane.Definitely does sum up the weather recently.
Depressing steve
The photo brings to mind an incident I experienced while having a drink in the Crispin Arms (now sadly gone).
Someone brought in an American guest who asked "What is the climate like in Wigan ?" A gruff voice from the other end of the bar said " we don't have climate in Wigan, all we have is bl**dy weather !
The Crispin Arms at Birkett bank is still open as a pub.
Thanks Garry, glad to know it. Someone told me it had been demolished with the row of houses on Birkett Bank.
The original pub was demolished and a new one rebuilt on the site Alan (Vancouver Island)
