Beautiful crisp shot as we near late Autumn and the start of Winter.

lovely shot. I've never heard of this place

A new place or, to me, unrecognisable. A beautiful picture.
Think back to the early 60s and Hindley was surrounded by slag heaps.Things in Aspull, New Springs and Hindley environmentally are better today. Same where I live. But economic prospects and wages - least said.

Beautiful view - it could be somewhere in Canada!

Thanks for the comments, the place is about 1/2 mile from the Bird traffic lights at the side of Liverpool Rd,it was known locally as Sammy's Flood, there is a small car park, and good paths.

This is just off Liverpool Road in Hindley, going towards Platt Bridge.
Canada. It does look as though it could be Canada, Veronica !Maureen you would paint a fab picture of this. I bet both you and Veronica could, you are so talented.

I think it looks like Wrightington

Comment by: irene roberts on 9th November 2017 at 12:55

It's Sammy's Flood at Platt Bridge.

A little boat with a white sail would complete it Elizabeth.... A bit of artistic licence wouldn't go amiss!

Comment by: Carole on 9th November 2017 at 16:37

Prettier and much less dark than Wrightington

Comment by: Steve on 9th November 2017 at 21:54

It has certainly changed a lot since I was a lad. We used to have loads of fun on home made rafts on Sammys Flood. Happy Days !

Previous comments regarding "somewhere in Canada" prompt me to say it's not unlike our backyard millpond! (lol)
...if you were to add a few more mature spruces and a red canoe!

Comment by: Garry on 13th November 2017 at 01:27

It clearly reads in the caption, Low Hall Nature Reserve.

Thats some 'backyard' Ellen! When I picture a backyard I think of dustbins and somewhere to put coal -not forgetting the outside lavatory -years ago! :o))
