Wigan Bridge Club are holding an open day this Saturday (14th Oct).

At 10.30am and again at 2pm you can drop in for a tour of the facilities; an introduction to bridge; play a few hands & enjoy a cuppa with cake and biscuits; and it's all free of charge.

I wonder who built that nice house, who ever it was would have had a lovely view of mesnes park from the rooftop.

Good one, didn't know it was there.
Do you play Joanne? I can see you doing so.

They don't build like this beautiful building anymore.

Nice one Jo Anne, a photo of a building that a lot of folks would just either walk or drive past without a glance.

I love the yellow gaslightesque glow through the window. Holmes and Watson could be sat there on old leather armchairs.

Its only got one bay window on the second floor so maybe that was another balcony

If you look proper you will see that theres not much room in between the two chimneys

This area was always classed as very affluent -I remember on walking days processing through the tree lined streets and marvelling at the grand houses. It was very 'posh' indeed!

Maureen sometimes I get a message saying 'do you want to submit this again'. I just put no... I blame my daft iPad! Sometimes it's hours later!

Next door,in the direction of the town centre,is a row of modern flats which to my mind are way out of keeping with the character of the area.

TTS posted Sept 4th about houses being demolished at the top of Westwood lane to make way for the A 49 link road. Some are very similar in design to this one. The bay window and balcony exactly the same doorway is different.

It would cost a fortune to build like this today, these were built to last,I wonder if it was a pitched roof originally, the terrace and chimneys are very much newer, the concrete blocks are fairly modern.
