Photo-a-Day (Tuesday, 22nd August, 2017)
Wigan Samaritans
Good photo, sound organisation.
Dicconson is old English, cf Dicconson Lane on Aspull/Westhoughton boundary. The surname is now very rare, though Richardson is common.
In Shakespeare's Richard the Third:
"Brave Jack of Norfolk
Be not so bold
For Diccon thy master
Is bought and sold."
Very nice property being put to a very good use.
JoAnnes first ever Photo a Day,well done, was you going there to get some help ?
If I remember correctly these premises were once used as the Co operative Dentist after they moved from the emporium which was at the junction of Powell Street and Standishgate. I remember going there when I was growing up and the dentist was a Mr Bentley who used to travel from Southport where he lived every day
You are correct Pete in every detail of your post. I too used to go to the Co-op dentist at 73 Dicconson St and it was Mr Bentley from Southport.
Well done Joanne, you should do more. It shows the building off beautifully.
Nice one, Joanne.
Interesting angle of a well meaning group.
Good one you.
Thanks for the kind comments. Sorry it's not clear enough to read but the notice on the door says:

Mick, I went along to take photos hoping to raise awareness of our local branch, as I only learned of it myself a few years ago :)
