JOE
When I see that fan I always think its somebody looking out of the window.
Uncle Joe's Mint balls ! Do you know that we can buy those in Canada ?
Used to work next door and the smells when Uncle Joe's were being made - can smell them now.
A friend of mine who lives in Australia can buy Uncle Joe's there but says they are expensive. Here in Nth Yorkshire we can buy them in lots of different shops and I frequently do, there great !!! best in all the land !!!.
Wherever a Wiganer is, either in the Uk or the world, a tin of Uncle Joe's and you are home!
I used to walk pass here every morning going to all saints school , I can still remember the lovely smell of the mint balls being made , 60 years ago
My son and daughter-in-law saw then in a store in San Francisco.
We used to be able to buy them here in Bath, but o longer. We do use the Net & have plenty that we ordered & enjoy - very much.
The aroma emanating from there may smell nice, but the mint balls aren't, I find them to be awful! I'd rather have a Fishermans Friend.
Mick, who would you think it would be looking out of the window with a metal head, Tin Lizzie or Brassneck maybe.
My word ....Tin Lizzie! That's struck a cord I'd forgotten all about her! She was in one of the comics but I can't remember which! Brassneck I don't know who that was. Uncle Joe you could never forget him!
Chord not cord!
As local comedian Harry pemberton used to say,who has the cleanest balls in the world,he would then shout out uncle joes cos were always sucking them (apologise to to everyone) but it was funny at the time.
Agree with Cyril, smell nice when being made but don't like them. Seen them in America but went for a dark chocolate milky way instead !
They don't taste the same to me,quite a lot sweeter, they seemed better when they were sold loose, with no paper wrapping.
Veronica, Tin Lizzie was in The Dandy, much later Brassneck a mechanical robot, as was Lizzie, appeared in The Dandy, I seem to remember he was dressed as a schoolboy.
They'll never taste the same to me either Maurice, not after Bod's comment earlier.
Just been down Memory Lane Cyril and looked up Tin Lizzie and Brassribs the butler in a 1957 Dandy! It was great -it all came flooding back- the wonders of technology! All that violence with a sledge hammer!!!
