Water Rail
Never heard of the bird Dave, a great shot by the way. Googled it, a very aggressive bird with a pig like squeal, an oddity amongst British birds.
Good photo Dave. How do things get named, this bird does not look like a rail to me.
You dont normally get that good a view of them
Wonderful shot Dave. There was one at Orrell Water Park a year or two back. Not sure if it is resident there
Another beauty, both bird and picture.
Well done for capturing that!
Perfect as ever Dave, thanks for this photo.
That is one hell of a photo Dave, Well done!
Dave..you never let us down with your photography...it's a beautiful shot.
It does look a vicious bird and it is amazing how it's feathers blend with the surroundings.
It won't hang back whilst the bigger birds feed that's for sure!
Dave..you never let us down with your photography...it's a beautiful shot.
Isn't Evolution wonderful! Thanks Dave for allowing us to have a closer look at it. Saying that , looking at the bird's beak and eyes, something is about to cop it!
Hiw on earth does a post come on later like mine has..I wasn't even at home at that time.lol
Thanks folks. Actually the Water Rail is a very elusive and shy bird. I've never seen one show any aggression to anything.
I agree with Mauree, your photograph is beautiful, you're very talented Dave.
It's so detailed you can almost feel the softness of the feathers.
Thank you.
This is the best photo of a bird I have seen on PAD
Excellent shot, remember watching one on the feeding tables during a freeze several years ago.
What a wonderful shot Dave, the way you've captured the light on its feathers and the concentration in its eyes. Beautiful.
Dave, they have a fondness for impaling wrens with their beak, they are unpredictable and noisy.
Amazing photograph of this bird - I love it
Great photo,I have seen this bird from Pengys hide at Pennington,
also seen one at the feeding station at Wigan flashes
Cliff - this was from Pengy's
