I just love this shot!! Is this the same bird as Wednesday's pic.? Or do all swans have this colouration of head and neck at times? (and there goes my computer, telling me I have spelled colour wrongly!!) However, in deference to Wiganworld I won't change it!

Now you know where the arms in Swan Lake come from! Thanks David.

A very striking picture ....the swan looks as if it's been sticking its neck out ...in the mud perhaps!

Lovely photo. The swan is responsible for the brilliant white plumage, by constant self cleaning, as you all know, but the neck can't be cleaned because it can't get its head around.

I'll go with Veronica's theory, it makes valid sense. Could well be nest making!
