The carving on the Cenotaph is stunning: Gilbert Scott's vision wonderfully realised.

The detail on the cenotaph shows very well against the plain background.
Lovely picture.

The war memorial does indeed compliment the architecture of the parish church, it is reminiscent of the Eleanor Crosses of the 13th century.

A really nice take on a familiar scene - well done :)

My eyes are drawn to the shadow at the bottom of the photo
Did you know the difference between a Cenotaph and a War Memorial, a Cenotaph only honours the dead, while the War Memorial may honour the dead, or the event itself. It's a fine line, but is still a distinction. A Cenotaph can be a War Memorial, but a War Memorial may or may not be a Cenotaph.

I was pleasantly surprised at the difference a change of perspective makes to these two structures. I have usually viewed them separately, but the angle you have taken with the camera has given them each a new companion. I really enjoyed this picture;thankyou.
