Why has Haigh Hall become such a dump ? It was a beautiful building
in years gone by

If they had made to TV series Upstairs Down Stairs in Haigh Hall it would have had to have been name Down Stars Upstairs

Was at the top of the building last year and it does need a lot doing to it. But if it is done tastefully it will be great. The Window and fireplace are brilliant, I just hope they are not treated like a previous photo. It is possible to have this room as room in a boutique hotel without destroying the period pieces in the room, marrying it with the old building that it is.

I'll bet that was a cosy room with a terrific view in the old days when the fire was lit.

Good one, Mike.

I worked on Haigh Hall in the 80s repairing all the window frames, and door casings it was like that then, and nothings been spent on it since as regards joinery work, think we only did the work to keep the weather out and pigeons.
Its a shame, lets hope the new owners bring it back from the brink, but it will very very expensive.
Thanks for the photo Mike Ive not been upstairs in the Hall since then.

I can just imagine the housemaid making the fire in winter for the gentry. It would have been a cosy bed/sitting room. I bet they never had ice on the inside of the windows!
It should be light and airey -hopefully not in the 'blancmange' shade!
