Now there's great photo. Love to see proper trains.

Comment by: Ken R on 10th November 2016 at 01:02

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they are truly beautiful.

Comment by: Mick on 10th November 2016 at 08:09

Taken 6th November 2016 mmmm
This is queue jumping all photos sent in should be treated equally and go in the Photo-a-Day queue to wait there turn just like the rest of us amateur cameramen have to do.

Comment by: Garry on 10th November 2016 at 09:22

Mick you have your fair share of P-a-D. These are two beautiful machines and British, that's why their still going strong.
Thank you Dave.

Comment by: Rev David Long on 10th November 2016 at 09:22

Makes a change from our Autumn pics though, Mick.

Comment by: Neil CaIn on 10th November 2016 at 09:38

There have been some great photos over the past two weeks. Well done to those photographers.

Comment by: irene roberts on 10th November 2016 at 09:56

What a beautiful sight!

Comment by: Vb on 10th November 2016 at 10:56

Those trains always remind me of Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard in the film "Brief Encounter"! They were always 'tied' to the timetables and living for next week!!!!!!

Lovely nostalgic picture!

Comment by: Mick on 10th November 2016 at 11:26

Rev David it does make a change from the Autumn photos, but people shouldnt be allowed to jump the queue.
I sent in about 12 photos on the 26 October and theres no sign of any of them yet, if this carries on like this some of us amateur cameramen could be dead before there photos get put on.

Comment by: Syd on 10th November 2016 at 11:36

That is a fabulous photo, symbolic of a time long since past, thanks Dave.

Comment by: irene roberts on 10th November 2016 at 11:36

I love Brief Encounter, Vb.....you can almost smell the steam in the opening titles when the train rushes through Carnforth Station.

Comment by: Finchy on 10th November 2016 at 12:05

The owner of THIS Website can make his or her own decisions, Mick. If you're so upset... Set up your OWN Website and show your pictures there.

Comment by: Anne on 10th November 2016 at 12:34

Two for the price of one, another good un.

Comment by: Paul on 10th November 2016 at 13:08

What a stunning photograph!

Comment by: lectriclegs on 10th November 2016 at 14:09

Mick, if you don't like it, then leave.......you won't be missed.

Comment by: Kodiak on 10th November 2016 at 14:50

You may be an amateur Mick, Oy is professional by being the councils official photographer.

We can't take photos with such crisp detail with our box brownies.

Comment by: A.W. on 10th November 2016 at 15:04

A sight to gladden the eye!

Comment by: Jonno on 10th November 2016 at 15:28

Mick, nine of yours were shown in October, so you've nothing much to moan about. Brilliant pic Dave, as usual. I know your surname Dave, but where does the (Oy) come from ?

Comment by: Alan H on 10th November 2016 at 15:29

Mick, please learn the difference between there and their. It is getting annoying.

Comment by: Mick on 10th November 2016 at 16:13

It dosent matter how you spell your theres and it dosent matter how many photos youv had on in October, and it dosent matter if you a good cameraman
What matters is being allowed to jump the queue.

Comment by: Dave (Oy) on 10th November 2016 at 17:28

Thanks folks :)

Jonno - "Oy" is by Internet name - and the name of my favourite character from my favourite series of books. Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series.

Comment by: Neil Rigby on 10th November 2016 at 17:47

Finchy, Mick is very active on the FORUM with current material. (By the way the FORUM on WW is a resource sadly under-used IMHO.)

As far as P-a-D is concerned it’s not (and should not be) first come, first served. Photos of Events of need to seen shortly after the event. Photos of a general nature, such as Autumn pics can easily be delayed and still be relevant. As far as amateur/professional pics are concerned I would expect P-a-D choices to have a good balance between encouraging participation/current interest/quality. I too have submitted pics in the past which have not be published but the editor has to make choices for the limited number of publishing opportunities i.e. only 1 per day.

Oy, lovely picture as always :)

Comment by: Vb on 10th November 2016 at 18:12

I think I'll watch it again for the nth time Irene!
Haha!

Comment by: Garry on 10th November 2016 at 18:29

And TEN in September Jonno, you don't do too bad Mick. Now put your dummy back in your gob and get on with it!

Comment by: Colin Harlow on 10th November 2016 at 18:36

Very nice Dave, the sight, smell and sound must have been great climbing the gradient from Ince up to Hindley station.
Many thanks.

Comment by: irene roberts on 10th November 2016 at 19:46

I'd watch it myself Vb, but I got a piece of grit in my eye waiting for the five-forty to Ketchworth!

Comment by: Vb on 10th November 2016 at 22:19

At least you've got the 'good doctor' at home Irene to get the grit out!

(watch out Garry's about!)

Comment by: because i said so. on 10th November 2016 at 23:56

Mick, why don't you start your own version ofWW then you can have any rules you like. As it is, Brian can can do just what he likes: he doesn't have any site rules for when your picture may - or may not - appear. Your photo contributions are enjoyed but don't fall into the illusion you have any say over how WW is run. Jog on: your endless whining puts folk off from contributing. Be positive for a change, I dare you, you may like it. I know other people will. Personally I think you do it for the attention.

Great photo, BTW.

Comment by: Ellen on 11th November 2016 at 20:25

Agreed; I also really love that movie and would like to have a copy....but I'm afraid I would only be watching it when alone in the house! My family
aren't fond of "that kind of Movie!"-(with the possible exception by my daughter, of the 1970's movie;I think it was called "Over there",which also featured trains in the north.)

Comment by: Ellen on 11th November 2016 at 20:31

Incidentally, I forgot to say that I really like the picture, it reminds me of the many times I traveled between Wigan and Leeds in the late 50's and early 60's.

Comment by: Vb on 11th November 2016 at 22:39

If you go on you tube Ellen you can watch a parody of the film by Victoria Woods it's hilarious!,,,it lasts about 5mins! It's the next best thing!

Comment by: irene roberts on 12th November 2016 at 09:02

Vb is right. Ellen.....the Victoria Wood take on Brief Encounter is very cleverly done. If you watch it on youtube, watch the Coronation Street one as well....hilarious and SO clever!
